Fu Linghui, spokesman for China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), has stated that China’s GDP growth target of 5.0 percent for 2023, amid the factors to be considered, is in line with the reality and needs of China’s current economic development.
According to the recent government work report, Mr. Fu noted, China’s economic growth target has been set at 5.0 percent. However, he said there are views that the growth will be faster this year due to the previous year’s low base, though there are other views on whether the target can be achieved due to the many difficulties and challenges China may face in 2023.
According to Mr. Fu, with the easing of Covid-19 measures, China’s measures to stabilize economic development have been proved effective. Demand has picked up, while the CPI and employment rate have been steady. Meanwhile, the economic cycle has improved gradually. Furthermore, the vitality of market players has increase, the spokesman said.
