Local news reported that approximately 300 workers at US Steel’s Fairfield Works plant in Alabama were issued layoff notices Thursday, and more layoffs could still be on the way.

In March alone, layoffs at US Steel include over 2,000 workers at its Granite City, Illinois plant; over 80 workers at its Gary, Indiana mill and 400 workers at the facility’s coke oven; over 600 workers at its Lorain, Ohio tubular mill; and the idling of its Keetac, Minnesota iron ore facility, which will displace over 400 workers.
