Iranian state-owned steel producer Mobarakeh Steel (excluding its Saba plant) produced 1,211,010 mt of crude steel in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2009), up 6.27 percent on the 1,139,457 mt of crude steel produced in the same quarter of the last Iranian year - according to newly published statistics from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

Mobarakeh (excluding the Saba plant) has increased its designed annual crude steel capacity from 4.2 million mt to 5.2 million mt through implementation of its under-roof development project early in 2009; however, a few years will be required to reach full capacity.
