Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has relaunched its second electric arc furnace (EAF) with a capacity of 2 million mt per year, which had been idle since March this year. It is expected that the unit's capacity will be some 120,000-150,000 mt per month.

MMK's first EAF was relaunched at the beginning of May. In the first half of March, MMK stopped two EAFs with a total capacity of 4 million mt per year amid decreased demand for long steel products in Russia.
