Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced the launch of new high-strength rebar grades with guaranteed resistance to stress corrosion cracking, expanding its portfolio for advanced construction applications.
The new grades include A500SCK/A500SNK and A600SCK/A600SNK, designed to meet increasing demand for high-performance reinforcement materials.
Broad portfolio of specialized rebar grades
MMK has developed a comprehensive range of advanced rebar products, including high-ductility (H) A500SN, corrosion-resistant (K) A500SK and cyclic load-resistant (U) variants such as A500SU, A500SNU and A500SKU.
The company has also introduced combined-performance grades such as A500SNK and A500SNUK, which integrate ductility, cyclic load resistance and protection against stress corrosion cracking.
These products are available in coils with diameters of 8-12 mm and in bars in a range of 12-32 mm.
Designed for demanding construction applications
The newly developed rebar grades are intended for use in precast and monolithic reinforced concrete structures. Their enhanced mechanical properties make them suitable for high-load environments, including power plants, infrastructure projects, special-purpose buildings and residential construction in seismic zones.
In addition, MMK has introduced A600SN rebar with increased ductility, along with A600SK and A600SNK grades offering guaranteed corrosion resistance in line with GOST 34028 standards. These products are available in 10 mm diameter coils and 12-32 mm bars.
Reduced steel consumption in construction
The A600C category stands out for its high mechanical performance, allowing it to replace A500C rebar while reducing overall steel consumption in reinforced concrete structures.
Its application areas include monolithic housing, high-rise buildings and major infrastructure projects such as bridges, metro systems, tunnels and overpasses.
