Mitsui&Co to supply steel pipe for Sakhalin II project

According to recent market reports, Japanese Mitsui&Co. received 110'000 tons of steel pipe order for construction of a 800 km pipeline under the framework of Sakhalin II project, an off shore oil and gas development project. With this project, oil and gas will be transported to Prigorodonoe port, located in southern Sakhalin, and then shipped to Japan and other destinations. It is also reported that steel pipes order which is worth $85.9 million, will be provided by Japanese steel company Nippon Steel and a Russian company. The project is conducted by Sakhalin Energy Investment Co. which was established in 1994 through a joint venture between Mitsui&Co, Mitsubishi Corp. and Royal Dutch/Sheel Group; holding 25%, 20% and 55% of the company respectively.
