Mining companies in Mexico will invest $5.21 billion in 2023

Private mining companies in Mexico estimate that they will invest around 5.21 billion dollars, one percent less than the 5.26 billion dollars in 2022, according to forecasts by the Mexican Mining Chamber (Camimex).

The investment data was informed in the presentation of the annual sustainability report, according to reports in the Mexican press.

In 2022, investment grew 9.5 percent compared to 2021; however, it was $274 million or 5.0 percent less than the originally announced amount.

According to Camimex, the participation of mining in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) decreased from 2.50 percent in 2021 to 2.46 percent in 2022. One percentage point of Mexican GDP is equivalent to $15.91 billion.
