MIIT: Chinese crude steel output to reach 620 million mt in 2010

According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), this year Chinese crude steel output is expected to reach 620 million mt.

In the first 10 months of the current year, Chinese crude steel output totaled 525 million mt, up 10.7 percent year on year. In 11th five-year plan period (2006-10) China's crude steel output increased at a rate of 12 percent annually, the MIIT said.

In 2005, the top 10 steelmakers in China produced 35.4 percent of the total national crude steel output, while by 2009 the top 10 mills' share increased to 43.5 percent, up an average of 1.6 percent every year. In 2010, the concentration of the domestic steel industry is expected to increase further.
