Mexico-based steel manufacturer will invest $200 million for the construction of two new production plants in the northern cities of García and Santa Catarina, Nuevo León, reported company president Eduardo Garza Junco.
"We are taking advantage of the growth of the North American region, and we are going to increase production in the aeronautical sector and develop export markets for special steels (SBQ)," said Eduardo Garza, in a speech in support of small and medium-sized companies, according to news from the newspaper El Financiero.
SteelOrbis reported on May 26 the expansion of the plant in the city of García in an area of 5,000 to 6,000 square meters. At that time, the amount of the investment was not available because the company was evaluating the machinery to be purchased.
According to El Financiero, Frisa is already a supplier to the company headquartered in Hawthorne, California, Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (better known as SpaceX). Garza said that the negotiation required a year and a half, and Frisa is currently the main supplier of parts for launching rocket motors.
“Every time there is a SpaceX launch, there is a product made in Santa Catarina,” said Garza.
Frisa calls itself the world leader in the manufacture of seamless and open forged rolled rings. It serves the aerospace, construction, mining, energy (oil and gas, electricity, wind), semiconductor and industrial machinery industries.
With four plants in Mexico and one in the United States, it claims to be a strategic, key and long-term supplier to the most advanced OEMs in the world.
