Mexico's auto production up 2.7 percent in January

In January this year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production volume increased by 2.7 percent year on year to 249,400 units, according to the release from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA). In the given month, the country's car and light commercial vehicle exports slightly decreased by 0.4  percent year on year to 177,928 units.

As for exports in January, Mexico's exports of cars and light commercial vehicles to Canada were up 85.2 percent year on year. Canada was followed by Latin American countries with imports from Mexico up 13.6 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given month, year-on-year decreases were observed in exports to destinations such as Europe, Africa and Asia, down 69.9 percent, 41.6 percent and 26.1 percent respectively.

As for domestic sales, in January this year Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle sales rose by 1.5 percent year on year to 85,504 units.
