Metinvest’s crude steel output down nine percent in 2017

Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that in the fourth quarter of last year its crude steel production increased by six percent quarter on quarter to 1.9 million mt. In addition, in the given quarter Metinvest also produced 7.02 million mt of iron ore concentrate, rising by three percent compared to the previous quarter. In the fourth quarter, the company’s coal concentrate production decreased by two percent quarter on quarter to 566,000 mt.

In the full year of 2017, Metinvest's crude steel output amounted to 7.63 million mt, down nine percent, while its iron ore concentrate output decreased by seven percent to 27.46 million mt, both year on year. In the given year, Metinvest’s coal concentrate production declined by 15 percent to 2.59 million mt compared to the previous year.

In the fourth quarter the group's output of finished products increased by nine percent to 1.47 million mt compared to the third quarter, while in 2017 its finished steel output volume declined by 10 percent year on year to 5.80 million mt.
