Metalloinvest’s iron ore output up 4.8 percent in Q2

Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced its operational results for the second quarter of 2019.

Accordingly, in the given quarter Metalloinvest's iron ore production increased by 4.8 percent quarter on quarter to 10.06 million mt, driven by an increase in productivity due to the processing of higher quality ore and the completion of scheduled maintenance works. Its iron ore shipments in the second quarter decreased by 4.7 percent quarter on quarter to 1.5 million mt.

Metalloinvest's pellet production and shipment volumes in the second quarter amounted to 7.2 million mt and 3.5 million mt, up 5.7 percent and 6.5 percent respectively, both compared to the previous quarter

In the second quarter, Metalloinvest's crude steel production rose by 5.1 percent quarter on quarter to 1.2 million mt, while its pig iron output rose by 0.9 percent to 684,000 mt compared to the first quarter.
