Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steel groups, has announced that it has established an official representative office in Russia's Kemerovo city, which will enable it to improve the management of its strategically important assets located in this region and will allow the company be more flexible in the changing market environment.
Accordingly, the representative office's functions will include the establishment and maintenance of contacts with the government authorities and business community of the Kemerovo region, the representation of Mechel group's interests, provision of assistance to Mechel group's plants in their operations, strengthening cooperation with Mechel's partners and establishing new relations to ensure expansion of the group's activities.
The new office will also provide actual data on the current market trends and will advise Mechel's management on tenders and auctions held in the region.
Mechel subsidiaries operating in the Kemerovo region include Southern Kuzbass Coal Company (one of Mechel's mining segment assets), Southern Kuzbass Power Plant (a part of Mechel's power segment) and Kuzbass Power Sales Company (power distribution company - also a part of Mechel's power segment).
