The EU antitrust body will decide on the acquisition of Latvia-based SIA Severstal Distribution from Russian steelmaker Severstal by Marcegaglia Carbon Steel, a subsidiary of Italian steel processor Marcegaglia Group by April 19, according to the European Commission's Directorate-General for Competition.

The transaction will involve Severstal Distribution’s Poland-based subsidiary Severstal Distribution Sp.z.o.o. and Ukraine-based subsidiary Severstal Distribution OOO.

Severstal Distribution is only active in the distribution of flat and long products, without any activity in production.
