On August 11, Anhui Province, China-based steelmaker Maanshan Iron and Steel Corporation (Maanshan Steel) announced that the company's rail wheels have passed the last set of relevant tests and have thereby been green-lighted for delivery to the German market. This is the first time Maanshan Steel will export its rail wheels to the European Union market.

Maanshan Steel set up its first rail wheel production line in 1964, and has since become the world's largest rail wheel manufacturer.
