Lukoil reportedly takes over MMZ in Moldova

According to unconfirmed reports, Lukoil has agreed to take over control of Moldavian Steel Works, MMZ, located in Rybntisa, Moldova. MMZ has a reported production capacity of about 1 million tons of steel per year, and just over 950'000 tons of rolled products. The steel maker supplies billets, sections and wire rods. The takeover will also enable Lukoil to have access to steel billets for the rolling mill Promet, based in Bourgas, Bulgaria for rolling into deformed reinforcing bars.
