Ontario, Canada-based pipe producer Lakeside Steel Inc. has announced plans to increase production at its ERW 2"-8" Mill in January 2010 by adding an additional production shift to meet increased demand.

In addition the firm will recall 38 workers that had been temporarily laid off in connection with the production increase.

The company also announced that it has received approval from the American Petroleum Institute to apply the API monogram and license number to the company's upset, threaded and coupled oil well tubing products.

Ron Bedard, Lakeside Steel's President and COO stated, "Obtaining the API certification is an important achievement and reflects the significant improvements we have made to the business through the successful addition of upset and threading capabilities and the enhanced shipping capabilities of our new rail yard."
