Kobe Steel develops new type of arc welding robot

Japanese steelmaker Kobe Steel has developed ARCMAN TM-GS arc welding robot for welding medium plate. Kobe Steel's ARCMAN TM series robots are widely used by customers in order to weld medium plate, for purposes ranging from construction machinery and steel frames to bridges and rolling stock.

According to the company statement, overhead-suspended systems, whereby robots are suspended from an overhead position offer benefits such as increased safety and efficiency due to the absence of machinery on the ground and are commonly used for this reason. Since manufacturers in the construction machinery sector are trying to increase efficiency and productivity in order to cope with massive demand in machinery manufacturing sector, more and more overhead-suspended systems are likely to be required in the future.
