JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, produced 927,000 mt of crude steel in January of this year, showing a decrease of 17.2 percent year on year.

According to the company's statement, in the given month JSW Steel produced 747,000 mt of flat rolled products, decreasing by 17.6 percent, while its long rolled product output totaled 251,000 mt, up 42.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

JSW stated that crude steel production was lower in January due to the scheduled shutdown of blast furnaces at the Vijayanagar, Dolvi, and Salem plants for capacity enhancement. The blast furnaces are expected to resume production within the current month of February.
