JSW Steel expected to bid for ArcelorMittal Galati in Romania

JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, is expected to make a bid for global steel giant ArcelorMittal’s Romania-based subsidiary ArcelorMittal Galati, according to Reuters.

Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest and Italian steel group Marcegaglia are also expected to bid for the Romanian plant.

ArcelorMittal has put its six European assets, including ArcelorMittal Galati, up for sale to get approval from European competition authorities for its purchase of Italy's largest steelmaker Ilva.ArcelorMittal Galati is the biggest of these assets.
