Japan’s vehicle output up in January 2005

Japan's vehicle production rose in January 2005 as output of passenger cars increased, partly due to robust sales of new models at home and overseas. Overall vehicle production rose 3.5% year-on-year to 855'481 units in January 2005. Passenger car output amounted to 718'242 units last month, up 4.9% year-on-year. Output of trucks and buses declined 3.1% and 2.6% to 132'393 and 4'846 units in January respectively.
