In February this year, Japan’s iron and steel product exports amounted to 2.63 million metric tons, rising by 6.6 percent month on month and by 2.2 percent year on year, according to the customs statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
In the January-February period this year, Japanese iron and steel product exports amounted to 5.09 million mt, rising by 2.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Regarding Japan’s major iron and steel product export markets, in the first two months this year the country’s iron and steel exports to South Korea totaled 1 million metric tons, up 16.5 percent, while exports to China decreased by 37.2 percent to 438,372 metric tons, the export volume to Taiwan amounted to 228,294 metric tons, down by 22.4 percent, exports to Thailand totaled 791,306 metric tons, advancing by 6.2 percent, while exports to the US totaled 209,216 metric tons, increasing by 27.0 percent, all year on year.
