In January this year, Japan's iron and steel product exports amounted to 2.84 million metric tons, with a month-on-month increase of 2.7 percent and a year-on-year growth of 14.1 percent year on year, according to the customs statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Regarding Japan's major iron and steel product export markets, in January the country's iron and steel exports to South Korea totaled 448,954 metric tons, up 15.1 percent, while exports to China increased by 3.8 percent to 400,261 metric tons, the export volume to Taiwan amounted to 174,389 metric tons, rising by 60.7 percent, exports to Thailand totaled 301,448 metric tons, falling by 29.8 percent, while exports to the US totaled 74,777 metric tons, down by 43 percent, all year on year.
