Japan’s coking coal imports increase by 10.5 percent in Jan-July

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's coking coal imports totaled 6.98 million metric tons in July this year, down by 2.6 percent month on month and up 2.3 percent compared to July 2012.

In July, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 3.3 million metric tons, down 7.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while Indonesia exported 1.86 million mt of coking coal to Japan in July, rising by 8.5 percent year on year.

In the first seven months of 2013, Japan's coking coal imports amounted to 45.4 million metric tons, increasing by 10.5 percent year on year.
