Japan increases its coking coal imports in July

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's coking coal imports totaled 6.8 million metric tons in July this year, rising by 24.7 percent month on month and up 32.1 percent compared to July 2011.

In the first seven months of 2012, Japan's coking coal imports amounted to 41.1 million metric tons, increasing by 3.4 percent year on year.

In July this year, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia rose by 21.8 percent compared to the same month of last year to 3.6 million metric tons, while Indonesia exported 1.7 million mt of coking coal to Japan in July this year, rising by 42.9 percent year on year.
