Japanese industrial output up 2.2 percent in Oct over Sept

In October this year, Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production increased 2.2 percent from the previous month, showing a month-on-month increase after a month-on-month decrease of 3.3 percent recorded in September this year, while it showed a slight 0.1 percent increase compared to the same month last year, according to Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Meanwhile, in October, the country's iron and steel production increased by 2.6 percent, while producers' iron and steel shipments were up by 7.4 percent and iron and steel inventories were down by one percent, all compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the country's iron and steel production in October witnessed a decrease of 0.1 percent.

In October, seasonally adjusted crude steel production including semi-finished steel products in Japan increased by 2.3 percent compared to the previous month and was down by 0.9 percent on year-on-year basis. Producers' crude steel shipments in October increased by 18.3 percent from the previous month and were up 3.9 percent compared to the same month last year.
