Japan sees increase in motor vehicle output

Japan's motor vehicle production rose 11.8 percent year on year for a second straight month in December. The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association disclosed that the country's motor vehicle production amounted to 884,766 units last month. Japan's vehicle exports rose 4 percent year on year to 454,844 units in December. On the other hand, domestic shipments fell 9.2 percent year on year to 407,968 units. Passenger vehicle production increased 12.2 percent year on year to 748,805 units in December. Truck production rose 8.2 percent to 129,976 units while bus production jumped 61.6 percent to 5,985 units. For all of 2005, motor vehicle production rose 2.7 percent year on year to 10.8 million units.
