Italian crude steel output in March at highest level since May 2014

In March this year, crude steel production in Italy amounted to 2.232 million metric tons, up 9.5 percent year on year, as announced by Italian steel producers association Federacciai. Italian crude steel output has been increasing each month on year-on-year basis since last October.
 
The Italian crude steel production figure in March this year is the highest monthly volume since May 2014, exceeding the March 2015 output of 2.098 million metric tons, but lower compared to the figure of 2.323 million metric tons recorded in March 2014.
 
In the first quarter of the current year, Italian crude steel production amounted to 6.122 million metric tons, increasing by 5.4 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in February this year, Italy's long steel output amounted to 1.011 million metric tons, increasing by 1.1 percent, while Italian flat steel output totaled 909,000 metric tons, decreasing by 5.9 percent, both year on year.
