In September, Italian crude steel output reached its highest monthly level since November last year, despite a drop of 30.84 percent year on year.
According to the statistics released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in September this year Italy's crude steel output amounted to 1.89 million metric tons, decreasing by 30.84 percent year on year, but up 155 percent over the previous month. In August, Italian crude steel production had fallen by 53.43 percent month on month.
Meanwhile, in the January-September period of this year Italy's crude steel output totaled 14.04 million metric tons, decreasing by 41.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Federacciai also released Italy's long and flat steel output figures for August this year. Accordingly, the country's long product output in the month in question totaled 292,000 metric tons, declining by 49.7 percent year on year and down 71.29 percent over July. Meanwhile, in August Italian flat steel production decreased by 53 percent compared to August 2008, reaching 555,000 metric tons. The month-on-month decrease registered for flats in August was 36.86 percent.
