The Ukrainian mini mill ISTIL has confirmed that it is about to start the construction process for its new long product rolling mill in Dubai, UAE.

The new mill will produce 550,000 metric tons of rebar and wire rod, which will be mostly supplied to the UAE domestic market.

The equipment necessary for the mill will be supplied by Italian plantmaker VAI Pomini, while billets for rolling will be supplied by ISTIL's Ukrainian facility.

The new mill is scheduled to start production in January 2009.
