In the first five months of 2010, the pipe producing subsidiaries of Ukraine's Interpipe Corporation (Interpipe) doubled their steel pipe output to 315,800 mt as compared to the same period of last year.

Specifically, in January-May this year, Interpipe NTRP registered a 68.8 percent increase in its pipe production to 132,200 mt, Interpipe NMPP saw its pipe output increase by 70.4 percent to 66,800 mt, while Interpipe Niko Tube's pipe output rose by 2.87 times to 116,800 mt, all compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Russia's  lifting of restrictions on duty-free pipe imports from Ukraine had a positive effect on Interpipe's May output. Thus, in May this year, Interpipe NTRP produced 28,200 mt of pipes, NMPP produced 11,800 mt of pipes, while Niko Tube's pipe output amounted to 32,300 mt.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, in the first five months of 2010 Ukraine's production of steel pipes increased by 22 percent year on year to about 715,000 mt.
