Installation work starts in first phase of Hejing Special Steel Program

Mechanical and electrical installation work has commenced in the first phase of the Hejing Special Steel Program of state-run Chinese company 5th China Metallurgical Group Co. (5MCC). The project is located in the county of Hejing in China's Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region.

The first phase of 5MCC's Hejing Special Steel Program involves the construction of a 1,300 mt furnace, an 80 mt convertor and a six-strand continuous slab caster. The first phase will produce 1.08 million mt of molten steel and 1.05 million mt of steel billet per year.
