Indonesia considers reducing steel tariffs

Indonesian government is discussing steel import tariffs, as the steel and the related industries in the country are negatively impacted from the current steel tariffs. The Industry and Trade Ministry is stated to have asked Finance Ministry to consider reducing steel tariffs to the levels of 5% to 10% from their current levels of 20% to 25%. The Industry and Trade Ministry in January, with a new determination, allowed only steel producers to import, however the Ministry rescinded this regulation afterwards, as a results of objections from steel related industries such as automotive industry.
