India’s state-run KIOCL Limited has restarted operations of its iron ore pellet plant at Mangalore in the southern state of Karnataka, according to a regulatory filing of the company.

The company said that the 3.5 million mt per year capacity pellet plant resumed production from Wednesday, June 14.

KIOCL had halted production at the plant last month and, though the company had not disclosed the reasons, industry insiders claimed that the shutdown of operations was in reaction to the sharp fall in ex-India pellet prices and low demand in the big Chinese market.
