India’s Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Limited (KFIL) has resumed operation of its mini-blast furnace at Koppal in Karnataka state after maintenance and modernization, the company said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday, September 12.

The replacement of top equipment with a bell-less top as well as other allied maintenance activities will result in the improved operating efficiency of the blast furnace.

The company spent an estimated $6 million on upgrading the blast furnace, according to the filing.

KFIL, which operates two plants at Koppal and Solapur in Maharashtra, is a producer of pig iron and casting products.
