India’s JSW Steel Limited achieved a consolidated crude steel production of 2.12 million mt in April 2026, a decline of one percent year on year, according to a company regulatory filing on Wednesday, May 13.
The primary drag on domestic output was a planned shutdown of blast furnace No. 3 (BF3) at the company’s Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka for a capacity upgrade, the company said.
Capacity utilization at Indian operations stood at around 94 percent in April excluding BF3, but fell to 83 percent when BF3’s capacity was included, it said.
JSW Steel has a consolidated crude steel installed capacity of 35.7 million mt per year, while it has outlined plans to expand this to 48.9 million mt per year over the next four years.
