India’s industrial production falls for second straight month in February

India's monthly industrial production fell for the second straight month in February this year, posting a month-on-month decline of 4.15 percent. Meanwhile, in the given month, the country's industrial production rose 15.1 percent as compared to February 2009.
 
Among the industrial sectors, in February metal products and parts, excepting machinery and equipment, showed the highest growth of 57 percent, followed by 40.4 percent for machinery and equipment other than transport equipment, and 36.4 percent for transport equipment and parts, all compared to February 2009.
 
Meanwhile, industrial production in the country's basic metal and alloy industry in February regressed by 4.58 percent over January and was up 7.55 percent year on year.
