India’s coking coal import traffic through major ports down 6% in April 2026

India’s coking coal imports through all major ports in the country in April 2026 have been provisionally estimated at 5.334 million mt, a decline of 5.83 percent year on year, according to data sourced from the Indian Ports Association (IPA) on Thursday, May 7.

The inward shipments of coking coal in April 2026 were also lower than the 5.974 million mt imported through the major ports in March 2026, the data showed.

According to the IPA data, total iron ore freight traffic including pellets during April 2026 was at an estimated 4.075 million mt, a fall of 2.81 percent year on year.
