India’s coking coal import port traffic up 12% in FY 2025-26

India’s coking coal imports through all major ports in the country in the fiscal year 2025-26 (April-March) have been provisionally estimated at 66.252 million mt, a rise of 11.8 percent year on year, data sourced from the Indian Ports Association (IPA) showed on Tuesday, April 7.

According to the calculations of SteelOrbis, inward shipments during March 2026 worked out at 5.974 million mt, compared to 6.598 million mt in February 2026.

The IPA data showed that total iron ore freight traffic including pellets during the fiscal year 2025-26 came to an estimated 50.568 million mt, a marginal rise of 1.33 percent year on year.
