India’s CIL to construct two coal washeries to augment supplies to key industries including steel mills

Indian government-run miner Coal India Limited (CIL) has drawn up plans to construct two coal washeries to augment supplies to key user industries including steel mills, a government official said on Thursday, March 26.

The two washeries would have aggregate capacities of 27 million mt per year, the official said.

At present, CIL operates 79 coal washeries with an aggregate capacity of 39.35 million mt.

One of the new washeries with a capacity of 15 million mt will be constructed at the Balaram-Hingula mining complex in the Angul district in the eastern state of Odisha. The other, with a 12 million mt per year capacity, will be built at the Kulda-Garjanbahal mines in Jharsuguda, also in Odisha.
