Hubei Province-based Chinese steel pipe producer Huangshi Xinxing Pipes commissioned a 616 cubic meter blast furnace at the beginning of September, according to local newspaper Huangshi Daily. The furnace will be able to produce 2,400 mt of molten iron per day. The new furnace will reduce costs per metric ton by RMB 150 (about $23).

In order to achieve its target of RMB 10 billion (about $1.56 billion) in sales revenues by 2015, Huangshi Xinxing Pipes invested RMB 160 million (about $25 million) in building the 616 cubic meter blast furnace.
