Global DRI output up 10 percent in November

According to the data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the 14 countries accounting for approximately 87 percent of total world DRI production in 2013 amounted to 6.2 million metric tons in November this year, increasing by 10 percent year on year and falling by 2.34 percent month on month. 

Meanwhile, world DRI output came to 66.43 million metric tons in the January-November period of this year, increasing by 9.4 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2016.

The worldsteel data show that Iran was the largest DRI producer among the countries surveyed in November this year. Iran’s DRI output amounted to 2.08 million metric tons in the given month. Iran was followed by India, Mexico and Saudi Arabia in November, with outputs of 2 million mt, 475,000 mt and 408,000 mt respectively.
