German crude steel output up 3.3 percent in August

In August this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by 3.27 percent month on month to 3.63 million metric tons, rising by 3.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the January-August period of this year, crude steel production in Germany increased by 2.1 percent year on year to 29.37 million mt.

Meanwhile, in July Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 2.99 million metric tons, decreasing by one percent year on year, including 1.98 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 5.9 percent year on year, and 1.01 million metric tons of long steel products - increasing by 10.5 percent year on year.

In the January-July period of this year, the country's hot rolled steel output rose 2.4 percent to 22.3 million mt, consisting of 14.6 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 2.4 percent year on year, and 7.7 million metric tons of long steel products - rising by 2.4 percent year on year.
