German crude steel output up 1.2 percent in January

In January this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by 12.9 percent month on month to 3.65 million metric tons, rising by 1.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). 
 
Meanwhile, in December Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 2.63 million metric tons, increasing by 12.6 percent year on year, including 1.93 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 18.6 percent year on year, and 706,000 metric tons of long steel products - down 1.1 percent year on year. 
 
In 2016, the country's hot rolled steel output remained stable at 36.56 million mt, consisting of 24.17 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 1.5 percent year on year, and 12.38 million metric tons of long steel products - falling by 2.7 percent year on year.
