German crude steel output up 1.9 percent in March

In March this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by 12.4 percent month on month to 3.9 million metric tons, rising by 1.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the first quarter of this year, crude steel production in Germany increased by 1.8 percent year on year to 10.98 million mt.
 
Meanwhile, in February Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 2.99 million metric tons, increasing by 3.3 percent year on year, including 1.93 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 6.5 percent year on year, and 1.06 million metric tons of long steel products - down two percent year on year.
 
In the January-February period of this year, the country's hot rolled steel output rose 4.6 percent to 6.12 million mt, consisting of 4.05 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 5.9 percent year on year, and 2.08 million metric tons of long steel products - rising by 2.1 percent year on year.
