German crude steel output decreases by 5.9 percent in Jan-Apr

In April this year, Germany’s crude steel output decreased by 3.8 percent year on year to 3.19 million metric tons, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the January-April period this year, crude steel production in Germany fell by 5.9 percent year on year to 12.35 million mt.

Germany’s pig iron output amounted to 2.07 million mt in April this year, down 3.4 percent, while in the January-April period it decreased by 1.8 percent to 8.14 million mt, both year on year.

The country’s hot rolled steel output fell by 7.2 percent to 2.73 million mt in April, while falling by 6.5 percent to 10.89 million mt in the first four months this year, both compared to the same periods of the previous year.
