Evraz Oregon Steel will lay off 230 employees over the next two months due to a “significant business downturn” related to coronavirus shutdowns and a drop in crude oil prices and pipe product demand, according to local news reports.

Evraz will shut down its spiral pipe mill in Portland, Oregon, but the rolling mill will reportedly remain operational. A separate plate product line at the Portland facility will also remain in operation, but with fewer employees, the news report said.
