Evraz said this week it plans to lay off 65 employees at its North Portland, Oregon plate rolling mill due to a “significant business downturn” amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The company notified state employment official that layoffs would begin June 8 and continue over the next two months.
Evraz already laid off 230 workers at the mill in April as it shut down the plant’s spiral pipe production facility.
