About 20 European companies, including steelmakers, energy companies, hydrogen producers, have created the H2med Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor initiative, a trans-European hydrogen ecosystem, to accelerate the decarbonization of industrial sectors by the early 2030s. The initiative is in line with Europe’s targets such as the European Green Deal, Fit for 55 and the Clean Industrial Deal.

Accordingly, Stahl-Holding-Saar GmbH & Co KGaA (SHS), thyssenkrupp nucera, thyssenkrupp Steel Europe, DH2 Energy España and Enagás are among the companies that have brought France, Germany, Portugal and Spain together to create a single hydrogen market in Europe and combine hydrogen production, storage and consumption projects, increasing hydrogen supply and demand and ensuring the competitiveness of the European industry as well as the resilience of the energy system.

Moreover, the members will develop their own respective hydrogen sectors and drive their domestic decarbonization. Also, they will collaborate on strategic projects such as the HY-FEN and HySoW pipelines and Germany’s hydrogen network, growing the Europe’s hydrogen economy and thereby supporting the decarbonization of hard-to-abate industries.
