EU to finance clean tech projects to support decarbonization

The European Commission has announced that it is awarding over €3.6 billion through the EU Innovation Fund to 41 large-scale clean tech projects to support decarbonization efforts in the region.

These projects, which cover a wide range of industries that are difficult to decarbonize, such as the steel industry, are located in 15 EU member states, including Austria, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Norway.

The supported projects will all enter into operation before 2030 and have the potential to reduce carbon emissions by 221 million mt in their first 10 years of operation.
